Call Johna. Role-play a veteran starting the process.
561-567-9268
Johna is a VSO force multiplier. She works for you. After your 21-22 is on file, she works the veteran on the disability claim and what comes next. You walk into the appointment with the DD-214, the conditions drafted, the career picture clear, and the whole story on your desk. Free to veterans. Free to VSOs. Nothing goes to VA without you.
Veteran in crisis right now? Dial 988, then press 1. The Veterans Crisis Line comes before anything on this page.
The ground rule
You verify everything
Johna is not a representative and doesn’t act like one. She never acts on a veteran’s behalf. You do. She’s your tool, same as your case management software.
Everything she produces hits your desk as a draft with sources attached and gaps flagged. The veteran hears on every call that their VSO reviews everything.
She gets the folder ready. You sign.
The workflow
Where she sits
After the 21-22. Before the appointment.
- Veteran contacts your office.
- You file the 21-22.
- You assign Johna. Every call logs to your office.
- Johna works the prep. Claim and career, as many calls as it takes.
- You get the folder the night before.
- The appointment is the appointment. Not intake.
She doesn’t talk to veterans you haven’t taken on.
Why this exists
The problem
You have more veterans than hours. Appointments fill weeks out. Veterans show up without records, unsure what they’re claiming, sometimes just needing to talk. You handle intake, development, career questions, and crisis triage in the same thirty minutes.
Johna does the part between the 21-22 and the chair across from your desk.
What she does
Three jobs
Claims prep
She walks the veteran through their situation, explains the claim in plain language, and organizes what they need. Answers come from 38 CFR and M21-1 with the citation attached. You get the draft. You verify it.
Career transition
Separating, retiring, stuck, or thinking about going out on their own. Johna gets the veteran to say what they actually want, maps their military occupation to civilian work, checks their GI Bill and VR&E eligibility, and walks them through SkillBridge if they’re still in, apprenticeships, federal hiring, or starting a veteran-owned business. She flags the programs you’d send them to anyway, with the veteran already pointed at the right one.
Someone to talk to
Most calls aren’t about claims. Johna listens, and she notices. If a veteran sounds like they’re in trouble, she escalates to the human you designate and gives them the Crisis Line. That rule doesn’t change.
The deliverable
What shows up on your desk
The veteran walks in ready. You get the same folder the night before.
DD-214
Located, or the SF-180 already started. She checks against what you have in VBMS so nobody chases it twice.
Every condition drafted
Each contention in plain language with the 38 CFR reference. Drafts for your 21-526EZ, not filings.
Statements started
The 21-4138 and, if it applies, the 21-0781, in the veteran’s own words, flagged where details need checking against the record.
Supporting documentation
STRs, private records, lay statements (21-10210). Labeled and matched to the condition. Providers identified so the 21-4142s are ready to sign. Gaps flagged.
Intent to File, done
Johna walks the veteran through submitting their own ITF the same day they first talk to her. Effective date preserved before the appointment. She never logs in for them and never touches credentials. Confirmation lands in your report; you verify it against VBMS.
Career summary
What the veteran did in service, what they want now, and the gap between. Transferable skills in civilian language.
Benefits eligibility check
GI Bill remaining, VR&E fit, veterans’ preference, SkillBridge if still in, apprenticeship candidates. Flagged for you to confirm.
Small business path
If the veteran wants to own something, Johna lays out the veteran-owned route: Boots to Business Reboot, VetCert, VR&E self-employment track, VOSB/SDVOSB set-asides. Eligibility notes and next step flagged for you.
Résumé draft
Built from the service history Johna already has. Ready for the veteran to edit and you to review.
Full conversation report
Every call summarized. What the veteran said, what she said, what she wouldn’t answer, what concerned her. Five minutes to read.
Don’t take the list’s word for it. We graded Johna’s predecessor on a real, day-long session — three calls, a seven-condition claim, submitted the same day — and published the report card, gaps and all.

Under the hood
What she’s working with
Johna isn’t like any AI chatbot you’ve used. No app, no download, no login. She’s the best voice AI available today, and she stays that way as the tech moves. She has the skillset of a human with a cell phone.
Lowest-latency voice we can build
She answers like a person, without the pause that says “machine.” No dead air, no talking over each other. For older veterans and veterans with hearing loss, speed is the difference between a conversation and a hang-up.
Perpetual memory (patent pending)
She remembers the veteran across every call and text. Nobody re-explains their service history. Built for voice, which is what makes the speed possible.
Voice and text, one conversation
Start on a call, send a photo by text, finish on a call the next morning. One thread, one report.
Live knowledge base search
38 CFR, M21-1, and current VA regulations, searched when the question is asked. If it isn’t in the source, she says so.
Live web search
VA hours, regional office addresses, NPRC wait times, the current form version, job postings in the veteran’s area. She checks instead of recalling.
Live text dispatch
Anything Johna says, she can send. The form link, the supporting document checklist, the SF-180 instructions, a number she just read out, texted to the veteran’s phone while they’re still on the line.
MMS AI vision
A veteran texts a photo of a DD-214, a decision letter, a prescription bottle. She reads it, confirms it, and files it in the folder.
Scheduled call-backs and text-backs
Veteran needs to find a document or isn’t ready? She sets a time and calls back when she said she would.
Every one of these shows up in your report.
Straight answers
Data security
Straight answer on where the data goes.
No credentials, ever
No VA.gov logins, passwords, ID.me details, or codes. If a veteran starts to read one out, she stops them.
Texts and photos are encrypted
Everything texted to Johna runs on a platform built for HIPAA environments, encrypted in transit and at rest. A DD-214 by text gets handled like a medical record.
Built for HIPAA environments
We sign a BAA with every VSO partner before the first call.
Architected to SOC 2 standards
Access control, encryption, audit logging, least privilege.
Your veterans’ data is yours
Not ours, not a model vendor’s. We don’t sell it, share it, or train on it.
Minimal by design
She keeps what she needs to brief you and remember the veteran. That memory system is patent pending and built to work from less data, not more.
Escalations go to the human you name. Security questionnaire? Send it. More detail, including our vendor posture and what a BAA covers: the security page.
Early partners
Founding cohort
Johna is onboarding her first VSO partners now. The founding cohort gets direct access to the team that builds her: onboarding run by us, a named human for escalations, prompt adjustments turned around in days, and a standing line to the CEO. When Johna’s public case studies exist, they’ll be yours.
It costs what everything here costs: nothing. What we ask for is feedback and the patience of an early partner.

The model
Cost
Nothing. VSO reps never charge a veteran. Neither does Johna. Free to veterans, free to VSOs, and that’s the model, not a trial. If your board wants to know how, we’ll walk them through it.
How “free” is funded: Phoenix Rising AI is a for-profit company that builds paid AI employees for small organizations, and that revenue carries Johna. No grants to chase, no line item for your board, no bill coming later.
From the founder
Why I built her
My father served. The gaps veterans fall through on the way to what they earned aren’t abstract to me. Neither are the claims predators charging them thousands to fill that gap.
I built Johna to take that business away. That only works if she’s free to the veteran and free to you, with no line item for your board to approve. So that’s the model.
My company is Phoenix Rising AI. We build AI employees for small organizations. Johna is the one I’d build if nobody paid us. Nobody does.
